About Resume Wizard 101

Resume Wizard 101 is a Chicago Heights-based career services company created in 2020. The company is the brainchild of Neil Bhatt, a recruiter who has 7 years of experience.

According to the website, since its inception, Resume Wizard 101 has worked its magic in the careers of over 20,000 people in more than 80 industries.

They have helped clients land choice roles at top companies including Amazon, Tesla, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Google, Meta, and Verizon. Their career solutions have also been featured on Fox News, CBS, CNBC, ABC, and Digital Journal.

They may be resume wizards, but they offer a lot more than resume writing. Resume Wizard 101’s expertise in the career advancement industry also includes LinkedIn profile revision, coaching, and reverse recruiting.

Resume Wizard 101 boasts an impressive 98.6% interview rate. They claim that their clients report up to 4x more job interviews and offers, up to 18%  higher salary offers, and 44%+ increased job level satisfaction. Beyond that, they also boast a team of 50 US-based employees.

Impressive claims, indeed. But do they hold up to scrutiny? Can the Resume Wizard 101 team truly deliver on its promises?

Let’s dive right into some of the pros and cons when it comes to working with Resume Wizard 101.

Resume Wizard 101 Pros vs. Cons

As with any company, there are pros and cons. It’s up to you to determine what is a “must-have” and what things you can live without.

Pros icon PROS
  • Featured in Fox News, CBS, CNBC, ABC, and Digital Journal
  • Clients have landed jobs at Amazon, Tesla, Meta, Google, and more
  • Fast turnaround of 2 business days when expedited
  • 60-day interview guarantee on resume packages
  • 90-day job offer guarantee on reverse recruiting packages
Cons icon CONS
  • Revision of career documents is limited to just 10 days
  • Inconsistent information across the website
  • Lack of information about the qualifications of team members
  • Packages are on the high side, costing as much as $7,500 per month
  • Phone consultation with a dedicated expert is only available on premium resume packages

If you are looking for a career service provider, Resume Wizard 101 is a good option, but it is worth considering other alternatives to find the best fit for your needs.

One such alternative is Find My Profession. FMP, like Resume Wizard 101, also caters to executives and provides a hands-free job application process.

But unlike Resume Wizard 101, Find My Profession has an average rating of 4.9/5 from over 900 previous clients, boasts a variety of experienced reverse recruiters, and possesses far more reverse recruiting experience. Moreover, FMP was the first and is now the most comprehensive reverse recruiting service on the market.

Resume Wizard 101 Customer Reviews

Our Certified Professional Resume Writers have rated Resume Wizard 101 a 70/100. Additionally, Resume Wizard 101 has received a 4.8/5 rating on Trustpilot.

Trustpilot shows 92 reviews with an average rating of 4.8/5. Most reviewers had good things to say about their services. We found two critical reviews that complained about not getting interviews and jobs as promised.

Additionally, Neil Bhatt’s LinkedIn page shows 100 recommendations from satisfied clients.

All in all, their overall rating is good, but it would’ve been nice to see a lot more customer reviews from a 4+ year-old company that has helped 20,000+ people.

As with anything, it’s important to take each review with a grain of salt. Additional research should be done beyond reading the reviews that are found online.

How Much Does Resume Wizard 101 Cost?

Resume Wizard 101 charges $299 – $7,500 for their resume and reverse recruiting service. There are more experienced companies with tons of customer reviews that charge much less than this.

Resume Wizard 101’s reverse recruiting packages are of two types: Reverse Recruiting + Client Strategy ($3,999) and Job Lander ($7,500). Both packages include:

  • Everything you need from the resume writing packages
  • Networking
  • Career coaching
  • 30-day subscription to the Wizard101 AI
  • Hands-free application to up to 5 handpicked jobs
  • Interview preparation
  • Salary negotiation advice

Based on information from their website, there appears to be no difference between the two reverse recruiting packages. However, they do mention that Job Lander is the regular package “on steroids”.

Resume Wizard 101 - Job Lander Service

To be clear, Resume Wizard 101 is not a recruiting or staffing agency. They are not headhunters. They work as reverse recruiters, which means they work directly for the job seeker.

The benefit of reverse recruiting is that they are completely invested in your job search. The downside is that all fees are paid directly by the job seeker.

So yes, the $3,999+ reverse recruiting price tag would be paid by you upfront (not after you get hired).

Resume Wizard 101’s resume writing service is divided into 3 packages: Career Starter ($799), Career Progression ($1,199), and Career Branding ($1,399). Here’s what’s included:

  • Career Starter: Career consultation, strategy call, professional resume, and resume AI trial
  • Career Progression: Everything in Starter + a cover letter and digital course on job searching
  • Career Branding: Everything in the previous packages + LinkedIn optimization
Resume Wizard 101 Resume Packages

Resume Wizard 101 also includes a reverse recruiting package among their resume package options. However, upon selecting the $3,999 Reverse Recruiting option, you arrive at their $7,500 Job Lander package to add to your cart. You may need to verify what you will actually receive.

The pricing for other career solutions includes:

  • $299: à la carte resume revision, career consulting, LinkedIn revision, job search strategy, networking template, and interview prep.
  • $599/month: ResumeWizard101AI subscription service that lets their AI service revamp your resume.

Resume Wizard 101 Reverse Recruiting Process

Resume Wizard 101’s reverse recruiting service utilizes a strategically effective approach to assist you in securing your ideal job.

Here’s how it works:

  • You will be matched with a reverse recruiter who will guide you through your job search.
  • This reverse recruiter will apply to handpicked jobs on your behalf.
  • The reverse recruiter will also market you to companies and optimize your resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile.
  • You also get an executive coach who tutors you on interviews and negotiations.

When you let the Resume Wizard team job search for you, you get a 90-day job guarantee. If you don’t get a job within this period, you receive an additional 90 days of reverse recruiting.

Resume Wizard 101 Resume Writing Process

Resume Wizard 101’s resume writing process is pretty straightforward.

The resume writing process begins with an online questionnaire and pairing you with a writer based on your sector. A strategy call is included with some packages. Their service offers a 2-4 day turnaround on your first draft and 10 days of revisions until your resume is perfect.

Resume Wizard 101 also offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee and a 60-day interview guarantee.

Resume Wizard 101 Team

Resume Wizard 101, as a company, is a member of the National Resume Writers Association and the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches. However, despite these affiliations, team members do not possess any resume writing certifications.

The Resume Wizard 101 team includes 50 US-based staff members. That’s what their FAQs page says, but closer inspection reveals otherwise. Their website only shows 11 team members listed on their “Team” page, while their LinkedIn profile mentions just 8 employees—and none are dedicated reverse recruiters or resume writers except the CEO and one other team member.

Among the 11 members on the website, 4 individuals possess talent acquisition experience. Unfortunately, since there’s no mention of a resume writer on the website, it’s unclear who exactly will be handling your resume.

CEO, Neil Bhatt has been in the recruitment and talent acquisition industry since 2017. He leverages this experience to provide reverse recruiting, career coaching, and resume and LinkedIn services to his clients. It’s unclear what role most of the other team members take in providing client services.

Is Resume Wizard 101 Legit?

We can’t tell you whether Resume Wizard 101 is legit or not. All we can do is provide you with facts, and from there, you can decide whether or not to trust their services.

One recurring theme with the Resume Wizard 101 website seems to be unreliable information. Earlier, we explained the discrepancies in the information they provide about their team members. But it turns out there’s more.

For starters, their website homepage mentions that you can get your resume in 3 days. Their FAQ page mentions that their turnaround time is both 3 and 4 days, with the option to expedite to 2 days.

Again, their “Services” page mentions that the Starter package does not include a cover letter. However, when you attempt to purchase the package, you’ll find that it comes with a cover letter.

We’ve also noticed inconsistencies in the pricing of their services. Certain parts of the website mention one price, and in another part, you’ll find a different cost for the same item:

  • We found 3 different costs for their reverse recruiting service. Their service page mentions $3,999/month, but on their store, it’s $3,999/4 weeks. Their coaching page even says it’s $2,999/month and you receive the same services as their $7,500/month package.
  • Their AI service is presented as $599 per month, but the website also mentions a cost of $349 monthly for the exact same service and a sale price of $99 per month.

Additionally, the Resume Wizard 101 website references reviews from the Better Business Bureau (BBB), Google, and Upwork. They however provided no means or links to verify this. In fact, further research turned up no BBB, Upwork, or Google reviews in their name.

With all the discrepencies, it appears that their website is undergoing a transition as they refine their services and possibly create their own website content, particularly since their Reverse Recruiting offerings are so new.

This begs the question: Does Resume Wizard 101 make false claims?

If they do, this may invalidate their claims of helping their clients achieve:

  • 98.6% interview rate, up to 4x more job interviews and offers
  • Up to 18%  higher salary offers
  • 44%+ increased job level satisfaction

We contacted the Resume Wizard 101 team to request evidence supporting these bold claims. Unfortunately, we received no response, and our subsequent attempts to reach them have been unsuccessful.
